What are "Pending Payments"?

Pending Payments represent earned interest and principal repayments that have not yet reached your Available Balance.

How do I deposit money to my investor account?

You can deposit funds into your Lendermarket account using either a bank transfer from your personal or business bank account or by making a deposit with your card (additional charges may apply from the card provider). Bank transfers are low cost and reliable while card deposits provide a faster and more convenient way to top up your account instantly. Card deposits may be subject to a processing fee, which is shown before completing the transaction.Transfers in EUR can be done easily and at low cost using SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) transfer. If your bank does not use SEPA transfers, your payment will be automatically rejected as we do not accept SWIFT transfers.

Please note that it is mandatory to include your reference number in the payment description in order for us to correctly associate the deposit to your account.

What is Lendermarket?

Lendermarket is an investment platform that connects investors with investment opportunities offered by a range of carefully selected lending partners (“Loan Originators”). We provide a way for individuals and businesses to earn passive income by investing in these loans.
Lendermarket Limited is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and provides services regulated under Regulation EU 2020/1503 (the Crowdfunding Regulation) as well as services not covered by the Crowdfunding Regulation.

Who are Loan Originators?

Loan Originators are independent lending companies that originate loans to end borrowers and offer these loans for investment through the Lendermarket platform. They are responsible for borrower underwriting, loan servicing, and repayments to investors. Lendermarket does not issue loans to borrowers and does not act as a lender.

How do I invest?

Simply browse our loan list available here to find the loans that meet your investment preferences. Alternatively, you can avail of our useful Auto Invest function to optimize your efforts even more.

What is the difference between Regulated and Unregulated Services?

Investors select whether they wish to invest in Regulated or Unregulated services during onboarding and can review this selection at any time in their account settings.

Regulated service: Crowdfunding Service offered by Lendermarket as a Crowdfunding Service Provider authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland in line with Regulation (EU) 2020/1503.

Unregulated service: Claims Assignment Service offered by Lendermarket falling outside of the framework of Regulation (EU) 2020/1503.

For further info about the difference between the Regulated Service and the Unregulated Service, please refer to the Services Statement and the website.
For investors, the key difference is stronger and more structured protection for regulated services. Under the ECSP framework, investors receive clearer risk warnings, have their investment knowledge assessed, and can make informed choices by pre selecting services before investing.

How safe are investments?

As with all investment opportunities, investments on the Lendermarket platform involve a degree of risk. While all investing involves risk, Lendermarket uses a multi-layered security approach to protect your capital:

Due Diligence: We only partner with Loan Originators who pass a strict audit. This includes checking their financial health, underwriting standards and management history.

The Buyback Guarantee: If a borrower is more than 60 days late on a payment, the Loan Originator is contractually obligated to buy back your investment at full principal value plus accrued interest.

Ongoing Monitoring: Partners must provide quarterly financial reports. We use "covenants" (legal safeguards) to ensure their risk levels do not increase over time.

Asset Security: the Loan Originator grants to the Investor a security interest in Loan Receivables to secure payment of the Limited Recourse Loan and performance of all Loan Originator’s obligations under this agreement and the Buyback Agreement.

What happens if a borrower does not repay?

In the event the borrower does not repay in accordance with their obligations or at all, the Loan Originator will pay you back the principal amount and accrued interest, thereby significantly reducing the risk of capital loss, subject to the Loan Originator’s ability to meet its obligations.

Can I make a deposit from a joint (shared) bank account?

Yes, you can make a deposit from a joint bank account as long as your name is clearly indicated as an owner of the bank account. When making a deposit please make sure to include your investor ID (12 digit number starting with 5) in the payment reference field.
To avoid any potential delays, we recommend sending deposits from your personal bank account, as often joint bank accounts do not show account holder names clearly, or in full.

How do I create an account?

Creating an account is quick and easy, simply visit our sign up page and follow the instructions on the platform. You can set-up your account as a Private or a Business account. After the registration process is complete, you are required to verify your identity through our trusted partner Veriff. Are Loan Originators regulated?

Loan Originators may be regulated in their respective jurisdictions depending on the country in which they operate. Their regulatory status and key details are disclosed on the platform and in the relevant loan documentation.

Can I cancel my investment?

Once you have reviewed and confirmed your investment, it cannot normally be cancelled.
However, under the EU Crowdfunding Regulation (EU) 2020/1503, non-sophisticated investors have a 4-day cooling-off period, during which they may cancel their investment without penalty. For more details, please see below “Unregulated service” description.

Whenever you update your investment settings, the system will review the loan list again and identify any new loans that meet your amended criteria.

What are the agreement models?

The investment agreements are made between Investors and Loan Originators, whereas Lendermarket’s role is to service the contract.

The agreement models that Lendermarket operates under are Limited Recourse Loan Agreements, Limited Payment Loan Agreements and Assignment Agreements respectively.. The use of differing agreement models is in response to the need to respect and adhere to the banking laws of some of the jurisdictions that our Loan Originators operate in.

With the Assignment Agreement, Loan Originators assign the title and economic rights in the underlying loan receivables to Investors, whereas, the Limited Recourse and Limited Payment Loan agreements perform as a repayable loan instrument.

In which currencies can I make the deposits?

We only accept transfers in Euro, however as part of our Product Vision 2026, we are aiming to support multi currency accounts.

Do Loan Originators always list loans directly?

In such cases, full details are disclosed in the relevant loan documentation and Key Investor Information Sheet (“KIIS”).

What is the maximum amount that I can invest?

There is no maximum investment amount. However, your investment is limited by the “Available for investment amount shown for each loan.

Why isn’t my Auto Invest investing?

When Auto Invest is not investing, it is most often because there are no available loans that match your specific investment preferences.  It is also a good idea to review your settings as your portfolio size limit may have been reached or the Reinvest feature may not be enabled.

What are the Key Investment Information Sheets (KIIS)?

There are two different types of KIIS document which are offered under Regulated services and Auto Invest:

Platform KIIS is a single document relating to the Auto Invest function provided by Lendermarket. This document provides a general overview of the Lendermarket platform, including how it works, risks involved, investor rights, fees, and legal protections. It is not linked to any specific investment, but explains the overall investing environment, structure, and regulatory framework of the platform.

A Project KIIS is a document that relates to each individual loan offered on the Lendermarket platform. It contains specific information about the loan (crowdfunding project) and the Project Owner (Loan Originator). Under the EU Crowdfunding Regulation, the Project KIIS must be provided by the Project Owner (LO) and made available at the moment the loan is published on the platform. According to EU law, the KIIS must contain specific information. The specific information requirements are set out by Article 23 of the European Crowdfunding Service Providers Regulation, 2020/1503, available here.

What is skin in the game?

“Skin in the game” means that the Loan Originator has invested their own money into the loan or project.
For example, if a project is worth €10,000 and the Loan Originator has 10% skin in the game, they have invested €1,000 of their own funds. This means they also share the risk if the project fails, they lose their own money too. On Lendermarket, all Loan Originators are required to keep a portion of every loan they offer.

So if a Loan Originator keeps 10% skin in the game, the remaining 90% is made available for investors to fund. This helps ensure that Loan Originators’ interests are aligned with those of investors.
